Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix market are highly competitive when it comes to medical aesthetics. Practices are investing heavily in beautiful spaces, advanced technology, experienced providers, social media, and paid marketing to get patients through the door.
But at DermAesthetic Consulting Group (DAC), we teach our clients that generating the lead is only the beginning.
The real question is: what happens once that patient gets in the room?
If your practice is booking consultations but struggling to convert those consultations into treatments, packages, memberships, or long-term patients, you may not have a marketing problem. You may have a sales and conversion problem.
And that is trainable.
Sales Is Not a Dirty Word
One of the first things we teach med spa teams is to stop being afraid of the word “sales.”
Sales in aesthetics should never mean pressuring a patient into something they don’t need. Great sales is education.
Your patient came to you because something is bothering them and they are looking to your team for expertise. If your provider simply performs the treatment the patient booked without uncovering their larger goals, you are doing the patient and the business a disservice.
A strong consultation should uncover the patient’s concerns, their ‘why’, understand what result they are trying to achieve, educate them on their options, and create a comprehensive treatment plan.
You aren’t selling a syringe, a laser treatment, or a facial.
You’re selling the outcome.
Stop Taking Orders and Start Consulting
This is one of the biggest opportunities we see inside med spas.
A patient walks in and says, “I want Botox,” and the provider says, “Great. How many units did you want?”
That’s taking an order. That’s not consulting.
Your providers are the experts.
Instead, ask questions. What brought them in? What bothers them when they look in the mirror? What have they tried before? What result would make them happy? Are they preparing for an event? What are their long-term aesthetic goals?
Then build the plan.
That may include injectables, skincare, laser treatments, body treatments, or a combination of services performed over several months.
Comprehensive treatment planning allows the patient to understand what is actually required to achieve their desired result while increasing treatment plan value and patient lifetime value.
Track Your Consultation Conversion Rate
At DAC, we believe if you cannot measure it, you cannot manage it.
Your Scottsdale med spa should know exactly how many consultations are being booked, how many patients are showing up, and how many are converting.
If 30 consultations walk through your doors this month, how many purchase?
And don’t stop at conversion rate.
Look at average patient spend, treatment plan value, rebooking percentage, membership conversion, revenue per hour, and patient retention.
These numbers tell you where your opportunities are.
If one provider consistently converts at 70% while another converts at 35%, don’t immediately assume the lower-performing provider “isn’t good at sales.”
Listen. Observe. Coach. Role-play.
There is likely a breakdown somewhere in the consultation.
You cannot coach what you cannot see.
Your Patient Coordinator Is Part of the Sales Process
Conversion doesn’t begin in the treatment room.
It starts with the first phone call, text, DM, or lead form.
Your patient coordinators should be trained to confidently answer questions, build value, overcome objections, discuss financing, schedule consultations, follow up with unconverted leads, and re-engage patients who didn’t purchase immediately.
Speed-to-lead matters, but so does what your team says once they make contact.
Spending more money on marketing won’t solve a broken conversion process.
Marketing creates the opportunity. Your team has to convert it.
Role-Play Until It Becomes Natural
Sales training cannot be a one-time team meeting.
At DAC, we believe repetition creates confidence.
Role-play consultations. Practice price objections. Practice the patient who says, “I need to think about it.” Practice financing conversations. Practice presenting a $5,000 treatment plan without apologizing for the price.
Your team should be able to communicate value confidently without sounding scripted or pushy.
The goal is not to create aggressive salespeople.
The goal is to create confident consultants.
Revenue Is Already Walking Through Your Door
Before your Scottsdale med spa spends another dollar trying to generate more leads, look at the opportunities already inside your business.
Sometimes the fastest path to revenue growth isn’t getting more patients.
It’s becoming better at serving, educating, converting, and retaining the patients you already have.
That is where great sales training changes the business.
